2018 Urban Innovation and Development Forum Held in Beijing
On December 19th, hosted by the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce and the China Economic Information Service of Xinhua News Agency, the “2018 Urban Innovation and Development Forum” was held in Beijing. Themed on “integrated innovation and better lives”, this forum explores the innovative practices in China’s urbanization. This forum invited the former Vice President of China Development Bank Liu Kegu, the President of Chinese Institute of Urban Scientific Planning and Design Fang Ming, Director of the Research Center for Rural Economy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Song Hongyuan, Vice General Manager of CCCG Real Estate Group Zhou Ji, and President of the Department of Featured Towns of Zhengro Group Wu Xinghua.
Deputy Director Li Yong pointed out in his speech that the most important development direction of urban innovation is to concentrate on high-end elements such as industries, talents and capital, realize large gathering in small space , large industry on small platform and big innovation through small carrier , and allow industrial development to adapt to urban innovation and development. The Investment Promotion Agency will continue to uphold the concept of industrial investment promotion, adhere to specialization, internationalization, and informatization, deepen exchanges and cooperation among domestic and foreign governments, urban research institutions and operating enterprises, bring industrial resources to small cities and towns with distinctive characteristics, promote the integration of industries and cities, innovation and entrepreneurship, and inject new kinetic energy into the healthy urban development.
Vice President Cao Wenzhong of the China Economic Information Service of Xinhua News Agency said that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era and urbanization has entered on a new stage of development. The important development opportunities created by the scientific and technological revolution, industrial transformation and integrated innovation are emerging. The rise of many middle-income groups contains a large number of needs for consumption upgrading, bringing pressure of transformation and upgrading to enterprises and at the same time bringing significant strategic opportunities.
At the forum, the China Economic Information Service of Xinhua News Agency and the Investment Promotion Agency of the Ministry of Commerce jointly issued the Urban Innovation and Development Report (2018), which focuses on four key words: urban renewal, shanty areas’ transformation, house leasing, and featured towns, analyzes new trends, new highlights and new explorations of urban innovation and development in the new situation, launches the “2018 Top Ten Urban Innovation and Development Cases” and explains the new directions and new requirements for urban innovation and development in the new era from the perspective of concept and practice. The forum set keynote speeches and conversations on “consumption upgrading”, “urban-rural integration” and “era of stock” ,and invited leaders and experts from various fields such as development and reform, agriculture, housing construction and land to explore the theoretical thinking and practices of innovation urban
